The 1990s was such a thriving time for R&B. Artists gave you a body of work in an album. From the album covers, the videos, live performances there was something to always talk about. Looking back, artists of that time had more of a mystique to them than now. Yes, there were always rumors about artists, but we didn’t have footage or tweets that determine if you will listen to their music or not. There wasn’t the stan culture of today, and artists had more of a chance to gain an authentic audience. R&B merged with Hip Hop and there were remixes to songs that surpassed the original.

Jodeci, Faith Evans, SWV, Aaliyah, Missy Elliot played in your car radio, stereo or portable CD player. Usher, Janet got heavy MTV rotation and Tony Braxton was making everyone gasp with her outfits and Vibe covers.

If the song wasn’t sampled, the music was influenced by Boom Bap, 808 or drum and bass, etc. This smooth track, “Jamal” is reminiscent of those times. A Smooth RnB x 808 x Boom Bap Instrumental.

Relax and enjoy this smooth hour long instrumental. Visit Urban Sweet Spot on YouTube, Spotify, Audiomack, Souncloud and other streaming platforms
