MTA Commuter Anxiety…. What Can We Do?

Living in NYC, taking public transportation is very familiar. The delays, rerouting of trains, overcrowding, performances and the many characters you get familiar with is a given in any train line or bus (or the dollar van, lol). It can truly take on toll on your nerves. The present pandemic hasn’t helped. For many of us that reside in metropolitan areas, this is our main source of transportation (Uber and Lyft can be quite expensive). Depending on your job location, many opt to take the subway and keep their cars parked on the block. While riding public transportation, the power is not in our hands and we can’t control an unexpected delay, crowded bus or cart or unruly passengers. This all leads to stress.

Many of us were working remotely and didn’t have the stress of that daily commute. When I returned back to work, I woke up earlier to have “me-time” and to catch an earlier train to avoid any delays or crowded train cart. This worked for me as I like that extra time in the morning, but not everyone is an early bird. Many experts suggest listening to a podcast, music, audiobook or mindfulness. Take a few minutes while commuting to yourself and breathe. Sometimes these simple things we forget to do, but can help us a lot. What do you do to ease Commuter Anxiety in this COVID era? Put it in the comments and share if you’d like.

If you need some smooth relaxing music for your commute enjoy this playlist “Metro Muzik” a nice blend of Dancehall, Afrobeat, Afrosoul, RnB Instrumentals. Please take a listen and enjoy.
